Given the challenge to
develop an exclusive mixed-use sustainable development on a 5 square
mile ocean-front virgin land parcel on the magnificent coast of
Mexico, the Balandra Bay project quickly became an experience of a
lifetime. Initially, the focus of the project was strategically
planned/located infrastructure then it focused on the development of
a system that was ecologically conscious; concentrating on
controlling sprawl + achieving a self-sustaining energy system.
The Balandra Bay project was an beneficial +
effective exercise in the delicate balance of form, function +
ecology. The project required proposals which included a complete
micro-city, rich with culture, events, high-end residential,
commercial, hospitality + protected land. It was to be a projected
view into the future of city planning.
