Best Fake Mayoral Campaign
With Real Ideas

A SERIOUSLY PLAYFUL CAMPAIGN
FOR A BRIGHTER BAY AREA
Mishou for Mayor is a civic art campaign, a public provocation, and a love letter to Tampa — the real Tampa, not the sanitized rendering version with the same beige stucco, fake lifestyle plazas, and dead-eyed “placemaking” language copied from every other city.
Tampa is not beige.
Tampa is heat, water, Cuban bread, thunderstorms, old neon, oak trees, porch gossip, Ybor ghosts, humidity, strip malls, artists, immigrants, builders, weirdos, hustlers, tias, makers, musicians, dogs in sunglasses, and people creating entire lives out of whatever they have in front of them.
This project asks a simple question:
What would Tampa look like if beauty, creativity, shade, history, small businesses, artists, makers, and actual lived experience had a real seat at the table?
I have spent my life making things that did not exist yet — art, spaces, objects, brands, installations, and strange beautiful ideas that needed someone stubborn enough to drag them into reality. I also know what it feels like to run into systems that seem designed to exhaust regular people into giving up.
That is part of this project too.
Mishou for Mayor uses the visual language of political campaigns — posters, slogans, buttons, platforms, public declarations — to talk about the things that usually get treated like extras: beauty, public space, taste, shade, culture, small creative businesses, neighborhood character, and the emotional experience of living, loving and obsessed with having your hometown shine.
Because those things are not extras.
They are infrastructure.
A city is not only roads, permits, budgets, and development deals. A city is also how it feels to walk down the street. Whether there is shade. Whether old buildings are loved or erased. Whether artists can afford to stay. Whether public spaces invite people in or push them out. Whether small businesses are treated like culture or just obstacles between developers and a parking lot.
Mishou for Mayor is a civic art and public-design project. Mishou Sanchez is not a filed candidate for Tampa mayor. This project does not solicit votes, campaign donations or petition signatures.
